Description

The BlazeSport Spring/Summer Season caters to athletes who want to develop their skills in either a competitive or recreational manner. During the Spring/Summer season our athletes can compete in various Track & Field meets including the Peachtree Para Games hosted by BlazeSports and the opportunity to qualify to compete in Junior Nationals hosted by Move United. The BlazeSports Track & Field team practices on the track at Centennial High School in Roswell GA.

 

Practice Structure: In a typical season, the BlazeSports Track & Field team meets 1x a week (Monday evenings 6:30pm-8:00pm) then increasing to 2x a week when school is let out (Monday evenings & Saturday Mornings 9am-11am). The typical seasons spans from 12-15 weeks.

 

Athlete eligibility: Ages 6 – 22 years old. Primary diagnosis as a physical disability including but not limited to: Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Amputation, Limb Difference, Visual Impairment, Dwarfism, Traumatic Brain Injury, etc.

Athletes of all skills levels are welcome.

*Sighted guides can be available for athletes with visual impairment if needed*

 

Equipment: The BlazeSports Equipment Loan Program is available for all Youth Members. If your athlete needs a racing chair, BlazeSports staff & coaches will fit your athlete to the most suitable chair we have available. The loan program has no initial cost to the youth member although credit card information is required. *-BlazeSports does not loan running blades, running crutches, or other ambulation assistive devices.*

All throwing equipment will be provided by BlazeSports.

 

Safety Protocols: BlazeSports is taking the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, staff, and their families seriously.

Upon arrival all athletes will have their temperature taken (must be under 100.4 to enter), fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire (athletes 13y/o or under must have a parent/guardian present), and sanitize their hands.

During practice all coaches and staff must always wear a mask. Athletes may remove their mask if they are 6 feet from other athletes/coaches or once they are moving.

Social distancing is enforced when appropriate – during huddles, starts, and stationary drills

All equipment will be sanitized before and after use.

Spectators/parents are not allowed onto the track during practice. Spectators/parents/Guardians are allowed to use the bleachers, social distancing is encouraged.
